How to Wash Properly
ROSY LILY makes it easy to clean your shoes, but improper use can significantly reduce its effectiveness.
Even with the exact same product, the key to getting the best results is one thing — "the right washing method for your shoes."
ROSY LILY provides How-to videos and photos organized by material type, so you can easily follow every detail.
Important Notes
For your first use, we recommend trying on easy-to-clean materials like synthetic leather to get familiar with the process before tackling delicate materials. For highly absorbent materials, use extra shampoo or lightly mist with water for easier cleaning.
This product cannot clean every material in the world. We cannot compensate for damage to expensive shoes caused by using this product on unsuitable materials — and that is never our intention. To prevent unfortunate accidents, always test on an inconspicuous area first to confirm the material is safe to clean. For a better shoe care experience, we appreciate your cooperation. Don't forget to rinse the brush when you're done!
Detergent vs. Bleach
ROSY LILY shoe shampoo is a "detergent" that contains no optical brighteners. It is not a bleach.
Bleach chemically changes the color of stains to make them appear white, while detergent uses surfactants to remove dirt from fibers. It cannot restore already discolored or yellowed white shoes to a pure white state. (The dirt is still being removed even if discoloration remains.)
Different types of detergents serve different purposes. There is no magic all-purpose cleaner that works perfectly for everything. We hope you'll choose the right product for each situation.
What Are Stubborn Stains?
There are many types of stains, broadly categorized as oil-based stains (acidic), sebum stains, and mud or dust. Additionally, the type of material the stain adheres to matters — synthetic leather, genuine leather, cotton, rubber, and other shoe materials.
Beyond stain type and material, the ease of removal also depends on how long the stain has been there and how deeply it has penetrated. Stain removability is determined by the combination of stain type, material, adhesion strength, and elapsed time.
Oil-based stains that have been rubbed in forcefully, especially when time has passed, become extremely difficult to remove. Stains oxidize over time and become permanent, so it's important to wash them as soon as possible.
Our product is formulated with very low surfactant levels so that towel-drying alone achieves clean results, meaning the cleaning power is intentionally gentle. While not suited for stubborn stains, it's designed to make easy-to-remove stains effortless to clean.
What Are Optical Brighteners?
Optical brighteners (fluorescent agents) absorb invisible ultraviolet light and convert it into visible blue-white light (fluorescence), which increases the apparent whiteness.
Very fine dirt particles can penetrate deep into fibers and become permanently embedded. Optical brighteners work by emitting white light, making the surface appear whiter even when stains remain embedded.
However, they are essentially only suitable for white cotton items. Using them on other materials may cause discoloration, making them unsuitable. Therefore, ROSY LILY shoe shampoo does not contain optical brighteners.
